A medallion quilt?

I have finished the Orange Peel blocks that I got  little carried away making.

P1070157I satin-stitched around the petals (29 blocks in one day), then took a break while I considered what to do next.

I sewed the blocks together over a couple of days, in between taking the car to the mechanic etc. Then surrounded them in a narrow border of purple batik.

What next? I am considering some flying geese, then adding another couple of borders to bring it up to a decent size. I still have a pile of purple/plum and low volume prints to create from.

Any suggestions for the borders?

Linking up eventually with WIP Wednesday and Lets Bee Social.

  1. I love your quilt. The colours are gorgeous. The narrow purple border is perfect, it frames the blocks without overpowering them. What size is the quilt now? Do you need any extra borders?

    1. Thanks for visiting. The quilt is quite small, as of yet. The blocks are only 4 1/2 inches each in size. I suspect at least two borders will be needed to bring it to lap size.

    1. Hi, thanks for stopping by. I’ve gotten a book by Gwen Marston out of the library named “liberated medallion quilts”. I think I might use it for further inspiration.
